Patricia “Patsy” Sue Hobgood, age 66, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on October 7, 2025, from natural causes.

Born on October 30, 1958, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Patsy lived a full and joyful life centered around faith, family, and community. She spent 28 wonderful years in Annapolis, raising her three sons and working for Anne Arundel County Public Schools at Rolling Knolls Elementary School. Patsy truly loved working with children—so much so that it was fondly said she knew the name of every child in the county.

Before settling in Annapolis, she lived in Chesapeake, Virginia; Charleston, South Carolina; Marlton, Maryland; and Princeton, New Jersey. Wherever she went, she built lasting friendships and created a warm, welcoming home.

Patsy had a deep love for cooking and reading, and she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends—especially during backyard pool parties and holiday gatherings. Her warmth, laughter, and ability to make every celebration special will be deeply missed.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John Clifford Brown and Margaret “Peggy” Brown, as well as her siblings Steven Brown and Barbara Hanbury. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, David Wane Hobgood; her three loving sons, Paul Taylor Hobgood, John Clifford Hobgood, and Michael Joseph Hobgood and his wife, Sarah; and her cherished grandsons, Jonah Michael Hobgood and Elijah James Hobgood.

Patsy is also survived by her siblings William (Chris) Brown of Bradenton, FL; Michael Brown of Bradenton, FL; Susan Viering of Frankford, DE; Wane Brown of Annapolis, MD; Patrick Brown of Great Mills, MD; and Pamela Slough of Silver Spring, MD.

Patsy will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater, Maryland. A burial service will follow on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery, N. Wall Street, Benson, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to meet beforehand at Rose and Graham Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Benson, NC, at 11:30 AM

Margaret Mary Cannon, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6th, 2025, in the home she shared with her devoted husband of 16 years, Richard Horne. One of five children, she was born on August 27th, 1948, in Wilmington, DE to the late James and Genivieve Cannon.  She is predeceased by her brother, James Cannon (Nanette), and survived by her beloved younger brother, Joseph Cannon (Nahid), sisters Catherine and Mary Elizabeth, and daughter Alyssa Cozzillio (Trey Capozzoli). She also leaves behind her amazing “bonus” children, Jennifer Roman (Steve), Daniel Horne, Shannon Pressley (Duncan), and Sky Horne (Amanda); grandchildren Owen, Eliza, Cheyenne, William, August, Evelyn, and June; and several nieces and nephews and their children.   

Margaret graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in French and went on to earn a master’s degree in psychology and a doctorate in pastoral counseling from Loyala College.  She was a member of the Anne Arundel County Public School System for over 35 years, serving first as a French teacher and guidance counselor, then ultimately as a dedicated school psychologist at Broadneck Senior High School in Annapolis, where she worked until her retirement in 2013. Students of all ages found a confidante, ally, sounding board, advisor, advocate, comforter, and friend in “Dr. Cannon”, and it was through her that they could find both a voice and their way when it seemed no one else would listen or help light the path ahead. 

Margaret loved life, and she truly lived it the way a life is meant to be lived. Whether she was adventuring the globe with her family and friends, scrapbooking in her crafting space, perusing the greeting card selection at Barnes and Noble, or eating an ice cream cone somewhere on the water, she was always in her element-- joy. She could enjoy an afternoon on the Isle of Capri and breakfast at the Double T Diner in equal measure if she was spending time with the people she cared about most, and it was a precious gift for them to be in the company of her beautiful and gracious spirit.  

A memorial gathering for Margaret will be held on October 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD where a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm for those wishing to say goodbye, share a memory, or simply pay a quiet visit to the family.

Thomas O’Donnell Foerter
October 24, 1957 - October 5, 2025

Thomas "Tom" O’Donnell Foerter, a 43-year resident of Greenbelt, Maryland, and native of Lanham, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 67.

Tom was known for his humor, kindness, and generosity. A proud father and grandfather, lovingly known as “PopPop”, he brought laughter and light to everyone he met. His quick wit and love of “dad jokes” were as much a part of him as his harmonica, which he played often and with joy.

He loved good conversation, helping others, and cheering for his favorite team, the Washington Redskins (Commanders). Tom lived a life filled with music, family, and community, leaving behind countless fond memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Justin Foerter, his father, Conrad Foerter, and his mother, Adele Foerter.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristel Rabideau; his son, William Keith; his grandson, Luka Rabideau; and his siblings, Dan Foerter, Beth Kimbler, and Dave Foerter. He also leaves behind extended family and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory, his laughter, and the warmth he shared so freely.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Thomas' life on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment private.

🏈In honor of Tom’s lifelong loyalty to Washington football, guests are encouraged to wear burgundy and gold or their favorite Redskins and Commanders gear.
😂Friends are also invited to bring a favorite “dad joke” to share in the guest book or during the service.

Tom’s spirit, humor, and music will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

William “Butch” E. Johnson, II, 78, a 51-year resident of Riva, MD passed away on October 3, 2025. Born on October 4, 1946 in Roanoke, VA, he was adopted by the late William E. Johnson, Sr. and Dora E. Johnson, Butch attended some college before working in the telecommunications sector for Bell Atlantic and Verizon. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, studying Civil War & history, watching sports, taking walks and hanging out with his family.

Butch is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joanne R. Johnson. He is survived by his three sons, Bob (Donna) Johnson of Fisherville, VA, Matt (Bonnie) Johnson of Woodstock, GA, and Dan (Sarah) Johnson of Annapolis, MD; his daughter, Christin (Bud) Newman of Temecula, CA; his grandsons, Caleb Johnson, Carter Johnson, Evan Johnson, and Buel Newman; and his granddaughters, Alissa Johnson, Meaghan Johnson, and Amiette Newman.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate William's life on Friday, October 10 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where a memorial service will begin at 2:30 pm.

Danielle “Dee” Pironto, 83, a 50-year resident of N.E. Washington, DC passed away on September 30, 2025 in Edgewater, MD from natural causes. Born on December 2, 1941 in Stamford, CT to the late Daniel Pironto, Sr. and Josephine Mardula, Dee graduated from high school before working for the federal government in the General Accounting Office. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her pets and watching television. She also had a passion for food. In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Pironto, Jr. She is survived by her nephews, Danny and Tony Pironto; her niece, Carol Ann Hall; her sister-in-law, Carol Pironto; and her grand-nephews, John Hall and Jesse Ward. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, or a cerebral palsy charity of your choice.

Dianna Kent passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025.  Born on February 7, 1944 at Providence Hospital in Washington DC, the beloved daughter of Metta Ray Nash and Charles Francis Marks.  She married Clarence "Frank" Kent in 1966, and joined the department of Health and Human Services in 1990, becoming an Investigations Analyst, before retiring in 2010 to pursue her love of reading, gardening and old films.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 24 years, Clarence "Frank" Kent and her brother Charles "Ray" Marks.  Dianna is survived by her son, Curtis, and her sister-in-law Mary, and will have a private burial at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Linus, a charity she provided for over the last decade, which provides handmade blankets to children in need. Please see link attached below. You may also make donations to the Charles County chapter, whom Dianna worked closely with, or any chapter of your choosing.

Sandra “Sandy” Leona Taylor, 70, passed away on September 29, 2025 after an eight-and-a-half year, fierce and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her battle, her faith in God never wavered.

Born on October 27, 1954 in Annapolis, MD to the late Kenneth and Emma Taylor, she was a lifelong resident of Edgewater, MD. A graduate of Southern High School class of 1972, Sandy worked early on as a seamstress and was determined to learn the canvas and upholstery trade. She spent fifty-three years in that trade. She passed the Master Fabric Craftsman test and was president of the Chesapeake Marine Canvas Fabricators Association for ten years. She was a former partner of Creations by Taylor and owned Sandy’s Coverings.

Sandy loved teaching Sunday school in church. She was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed going on Orioles cruises for over twenty-five years.

Sandy is survived by her brothers, Michael (Gail) Taylor of Easley, SC, Barry (Sharon) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Dana (Kim) Taylor of Edgewater, MD; her sister, Bonnie Taylor of Edgewater, MD; twelve nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion David Bryant.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life on Friday, October 3 from 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, and again on Saturday, October 4 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Christ Episcopal Church cemetery in Owensville, MD.

Ronald “Ron” A. Gerbasi, Jr., 77, a 51-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away on September 29, 2025. Born on September 27, 1948, in Newport, RI, to the late Margaret and Ronald Gerbasi, Sr., Ron earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland before entering the workforce, where he owned and operated Gerbasi Professional Corporation. Prior to this, he bravely served his country in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart as a Disabled American Veteran. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins, playing hockey, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nicola Gerbasi; his children, Amy Goodman and her husband, Tom, of Annapolis, MD, Ronald Gerbasi of Edgewater, MD, Daniel Gerbasi and his wife, Jaime, of Severna Park, MD, and Emily Gerbasi of Annapolis, MD; his sisters, Cathy Macchio of Stamford, CT and Cindy Ford of Sycamore, IL; and his grandchildren, Dominic Goodman of Pasadena, MD, Devon and Elijah Goodman of Annapolis, MD, and Landon and Simon Gerbasi of Severna Park, MD.
A private service will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department (www.edgewatervfd.org).
