Condolence From: Susan Coyne Mears
Condolence: Dear Dillard Family,
I tried to leave this note of condolence earlier, but I don't think it got posted. We used to live across the hall from you all in Germany. We became fast and good friends, and we spent many happy times with your family. Your folks were such wonderful people, just like family to us. I'll never forget Gracie Bell, and how Cheryl ("Toodie") used to come over and visit my Dad, Floyd, every day. I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing; what an amazing man he was! Both of my parents are gone, too, but I would like to think that they are all together, discussing the great times in Heidelberg, Germany. I am so sorry for your family. I hope to see you someday soon.
Much love,
Susan27

Condolence From: Joan Pitkin
Condolence: Dear Cheryl, Cynthia, Lynne, Michelle, your children and families, and those seven great grandchildren,

I was so sad to hear of your dear Father's (and Grandfather's) passing and doubly sad that I'm not currently well enough to join you all in honoring the life of a very special man who truly inspired many of us. His life found meaning in opportunities to give, to inspire and to make life a better place for many.

No one else can take his place- He meant a lot to many
people - and I know he meant the world to all of you. He will always be remembered.

With Heartfelt Sympathy.

Joan Pitkin

Condolence: To the family of Colonel Douglas Dillard:

We are so sorry for your loss.

Doug and Virginia Dillard wholeheartedly opened their hearts and homes to us when we first washed up on these American shores as lost and stateless refugees from the Vietnam War. We will never forget the Dillards' kindness and solicitude.
