Stephen Howard Greene, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026 at home from a long battle with cancer.  Stephen was born in Plattsburg, NY on January 5, 1943, and was the son of Margaret Mary O’Connor and James Franklin Greene.

Stephen was a graduate and later named Distinguished Alumnus of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD.  He was also a graduate of the University of Maryland.
Stephen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served two years in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with a Combat V.
In 1968, he was appointed as a Special Agent in the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD), which later became the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).  Stephen served with distinction for 28 years in domestic ports in Baltimore and Los Angeles, and in foreign offices of Saigon, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand, and Hong Kong, B.C.C.  In April of 1975, when Saigon fell to the communists, Stephen assisted the head of the Vietnamese Narcotics Bureau and his wife and family in escaping Vietnam.  This story was later reported on the front page of the Washington Post on Thanksgiving Day 2023.  

He eventually served at the DEA Headquarters.  Stephen held senior positions at DEA Headquarters as the head of Foreign Operations and eventually Assistant Administrator for Operations.  On August 12, 1992, Stephen was nominated by President George Bush and later confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the Deputy Administrator of the DEA.  He was sworn in by Attorney General William Barr and later served under Attorney General Janet Reno.  Stephen also served as the Acting Administrator of the DEA from November 1993 through March 1994.  Along with many other awards, Stephen received a Presidential Rank Award.

Stephen retired in September 1996 and went on to hold senior positions with the Investigative Group International, the Sergeant at Arms Office of the U.S. House of Representatives and at the U.S. Department of State, Office of Diplomatic Security.
Additionally, one of Stephen’s most enjoyable positions was serving on the Board of Military Historical Tours and participating in many tours to U.S. Marine Corps WWI, WWII and Vietnam battlefields.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Kathleen Greene.  He also leaves behind his brothers, James Franklin (Alison) and Thomas Gerard (Sharon) and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Friends are invited to celebrate Ed’s life on Friday, August 21 from 12pm until a funeral service begins at 2pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 1, 2026 at 1 pm at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.

A memorial service for Mr. Gilbert will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West St., Annapolis.

On Friday, August 14, 2026, Karin Marie Yeatman of Camp Springs, MD, passed away peacefully at Gilchrist Hospice Center of Columbia, MD. She was born on October 16, 1936, in Berna, Germany, to the late Martin and Marianne (Keusch) Riehmer. Karin was married for 58 wonderful years to her husband Albert “Al” Yeatman, Jr., until his passing in December 2011. Karin’s early life was focused on making a loving home for her husband and three children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting blankets for many of her family and friends who still enjoy the warmth and comfort of these cherished gifts. She was also part of the womens’ Sodality at St. Philip the Apostle church and enjoyed dedicating many hours helping out at church functions and events.

     She is survived by her children Victoria (Andrew) Limerick, Daniel (Kym) and Kenneth (Lesya) Yeatman; and beloved brother, Alfred Riehmer. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and was a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews.

     Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karin’s life on Monday, August 24 from 11am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 5416 Henderson Way, Camp Springs, MD 20746. Interment private.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Carleton Lingebach, Jr., affectionately known as “Jack”, on August 11, 2026. Born on March 10, 1939 in Washington D.C., Jack was a dedicated tradesperson whose passion for craftsmanship and community touched the lives of many. Born into a family that valued hard work and creativity, Jack enjoyed meticulously working on his beloved retreat cabin in West Virginia. He took immense pride in building projects alongside his father, affectionately known as “Pop-Pop,” around their farm and in Epping Forest. Jack’s creative spirit led him to construct a variety of structures, including cabins and boats. Notably, he named one boat after his mother, the “Dottie L”, and later took on a new hobby with a retired race boat, the JS-39. He always loved rebuilding and tinkering with antique pinball machines and Ford Econoline Vans, carrying this passion until his final moments. Jack cherished the time spent with friends at the community clubhouse, reminiscing about cherished memories. You could often find him at the beach, enjoying the company of friends and savoring a cold adult beverage. Professionally, Jack had successful careers with Xerox Corporation and the National Cash Register Company, where he showcased his remarkable ability to fix, replace, and repair anything. This talent extended to all aspects of his life, as he was known for his ingenuity in creating solutions, even when parts were not readily available. Later in life, Jack dedicated himself to ensuring that his family could enjoy the wonderful amenities he and his immediate family had created for the grandchildren, niece, and nephews. He hoped they would cherish the stunning views from the front porch in West Virginia and create memories in the boathouse in Epping Forest, reminiscent of his own childhood. Jack is survived by his loving family, including his sister Pat Hofmann, niece Connie McClaeb (Tim), nephews Gery Hofmann (Olga) and John Hofmann, and many additional family members who will carry forward his legacy of creativity. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Carleton and Dorothy Edith Lingebach whose influence shaped his life.

Joyce "Joy" Linda Reamy, a longtime Annapolis resident whose warmth, curiosity and genuine enjoyment of people touched generations of family, friends, neighbors and library patrons, passed away on August 9, 2026. She was 82.

Born October 18, 1943, in Alexandria, Virginia, Joy came from a family with deep roots in the region where her grandfather led the historic renovation of Woodlawn Plantation. Her family later settled in Maryland, where she grew up alongside her twin brother, Rodney.

It was Rodney who would change the course of Joy's life when he introduced her to her future husband, Michael J. Reamy, while the two young men were working at a local drive-in. That introduction began a lifelong love story that endured until Michael's passing in 2019.

Joy began her professional career in 1961 with the Federal Government in Washington DC, through 1966. She then devoted herself to raising her two sons, Michael Jr. and Mark. During those years, she was an active presence in their schools, participating in the PTA and volunteering wherever she was needed.

In 1986, with her sons older, Joy returned to the workforce as an office administrator with Long & Foster Real Estate in Annapolis. Her broker encouraged her to obtain her real estate license due to her outgoing personality and natural ability to connect with people.  She did so in 1988 and, after completing an impressive 14 transactions, was named Rookie of the Year in 1989.

After a great success, Joy wanted to become more involved in community service. In 1989, she joined the Annapolis Public Library on West Street, beginning what would become the longest and most rewarding chapter of her professional life. For the next 23 years, she was a public face of the library where her natural warmth, curiosity and love of conversation made her a loved and welcoming presence to countless members of the Annapolis community. She retired in 2012.

Joy delighted in conversation and treasured the company of her many girlfriends, friends and neighbors. She possessed an inquisitive mind and an enduring curiosity about the world around her. She loved crossword puzzles, puzzles of all kinds, trivia and keeping up with current events, and she was rarely without an opinion or something interesting to discuss.

She was a devoted Elvis Presley fan, enjoyed classic television, mysteries, courtroom and crime dramas, But she most appreciated life's simple pleasures—a decadent chocolate, engaging conversation and the comfort of familiar routines with loved ones.

Joy was also a woman of conviction. Throughout her life, she believed strongly in freedom, equality and civil rights and approached others with an open mind and compassion. Those values were an important part of who she was and the example she set for her family.

For nearly 50 years, Joy and her family called Annapolis' Rolling Hills neighborhood home, a close-knit community where most families remained in the same homes for decades. Her neighbors became lifelong friends, and those relationships were among the great constants of her life.

Over the past few years, Joy made her home at Brightview Assisted Living in Annapolis, where her lifelong ability to make connections continued. She enjoyed the many activities and new friendships she found there, along with a favorite weekly ritual: Bingo with her loyal friend and neighbor, Karen as well as so many others who loved and cared for her.

Above all, Joy was devoted to her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Reamy, who passed away in 2019. She is survived by her twin brother, Rodney, of Jupiter, Florida; her oldest son, Michael J. Reamy Jr., of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and his spouse, Andres Tremols; and her younger son, Mark S. Reamy, of Edgewater, Maryland, and his spouse, Donna Reamy. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jacob Reamy, Joseph Reamy and Jordan Zotto, as well as the much-loved friends and neighbors whose lives became intertwined with hers over the decades.

A Celebration of Life will take place in late September, with details to be shared with family and friends as arrangements are finalized.

Joy will be remembered for her curiosity, her independent spirit, her gift for conversation and her devotion to family and friends—but perhaps most of all, for being the rock upon which her husband and sons could always depend. For those fortunate enough to know her, there was only one Joy—and she leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter and memories.
