n January 7, 2013 Geraldine “Gerrie” Sue O’Brien of Annapolis for 68 years died at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a nine month battle with cancer. Born August 16, 1944 in Annapolis to the late Tyler and Lassie Maxie, she was an employee at Shoe Town for 27 years. She also had worked at Rite Aid and Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits. In her spare time Gerrie enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin A. O’Brien; four brothers, Boyd, Raymond, Johnnie and Hugh Maxie; a sister, Jewel Callis.
Gerrie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clark Lee O’Brien; one son, Keith (Lorrie) O’Brien of Edgewater; two daughters, Dawn (Jim) O’Brien-Priet of Havre de Grace and Sherry (Randy) Newsome of Annapolis; one brother, James “Burr” Maxie of New Jersey; one sister, Betty Drury of Annapolis; three granddaughters, Stephanie (Richie) Newsome-Toro of Stevensville, Taylor Newsome of Annapolis and Hannah O’Brien of Edgewater; one great-granddaughter, Zoë Toro and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to Gerrie’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, on Thursday, January 10 from 2-4 and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am.
