.E. “Tony” Collier, 90, a 9 year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Stamford, CT for 38 years died Sunday, January 15, 2012 in Annapolis, MD of heart failure after a 2 month illness.
Born July 28, 1921 in Clarita, OK, he received a Bachelor of Arts, and Law Degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX in 1951. Tony was employed as Tax counsel for Exxon Corporation (formerly Humble Oil), in Houston, TX and New York, NY from 1951-1981. He was a Captain in the US Army from 1942-46, stationed in Panama. Mr. Collier enjoyed genealogy and completed extensive research of his and his wife’s ancestry across the U.S., tracing some of his family back to 1619 Jamestown. Tony enjoyed ballroom dancing: he participated and medaled in many regional competitions during his adult life. He most enjoyed “Swing Era” music and was an avid fan of big-band groups from the 1930s-1940s. He was also a faithful viewer of professional golf.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary Dean Collier in 1998.
Tony is survived by two sons, David and Clifford Collier, both of Arnold, MD; a daughter, Maryellen Collier of Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law, Peter Grippi of Arnold, MD; a brother, James Collier of Santa Rosa, CA.
