Agnes Catterton - Obituary

gnes Hartge Catterton, 93, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her home on Progressive Farm in Harwood, MD surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Born on July 25, 1930 in Annapolis, MD to the late Alan and Agnes Hartge, Agnes was the beloved wife of Herbert W. Catterton, who died on October 22, 2023. They were happily married for 72 years. Agnes, after graduating from Annapolis High School, worked several secretarial positions including both Southern Middle and High Schools. She was also the administrator for the family business, Progressive Farm, for many years. Agnes grew up attending Trinity Methodist Church, was a member of the Eastern Star, Annapolis Elks and served within Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Lothian, MD. She loved working in her gardens, singing in choirs, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, coloring, taking family pictures, traveling and crabbing. In addition to her parents and husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Showacre, Betty Jane Hartge, and Dorothy Boehm. She is survived by her children, Betty (Bill) Bergstrom, Diane (Fred) Klinken, Kathy (Tom) Britschge and Richard (Terrie) Catterton, all of whom live on the farm, 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Agnes' life on Friday, June 21 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons lsland Rd., Edgewater, MD. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Rd., Lothian, MD 20711. lnterment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. ln lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Agnes' memory to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122 or online here.
