gnes Anna Roe, 89, of Edgewater, MD died of natural causes May 13, 2008 after a brief illness in her home.
Agnes, also known as Mom, Grandma and Nana was born May 6, 1919 in New York to the late Peter and Ersula Graniskis. She worked as the Assistant to the Administrator for the US Census Bureau in Suitland, MD until she retired in 1981 after many years of dedicated federal service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Robert Edsel Roe, in 1981. In 1991 she moved to Canaan, VT with her son Richard and spent the next 15 years enjoying Canaan and was very proud when family came to visit, becoming a tour guide of the area. Agnes and Richard moved back to Edgewater in September 2006 to be closer to family and friends. Agnes was devoted to her family. She enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed travelling, her Pomeranians, cooking and sharing her recipes with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Edsel Roe, and her oldest son Robert D. Roe, Sr. She is survived by 2 sons, Richard C. Roe and Randall G. Roe, Sr, 5 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Agnes touched many people's lives and she also leaves behind a large number of admirers.
A private celebration of Agnes' life will be held at a later date.
