Ailani Grace - Obituary

ilani Victoria Grace, known affectionately to her family as “Mama”, passed away at her home in Odenton, MD on March 23, 2021, following a 26-month battle with cancer. She was 5 years old. Born on October 29, 2015 at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, Ailani was the daughter of Willie E. Grace II and Abby Jiannie Grace. She was a loving daughter and enjoyed all the typical childhood pastimes including playing with her toys and iPad games, and watching movies. Her favorites were Trolls, Frozen and Sing. In addition to her parents, Ailani is survived by her brother, Willie E. Grace III; her grandmothers, Linda “Nana” Grace and Shirley “Awewa” Reyes; an aunt and uncle on her father’s side, D’Asia and Deelorean Moore of North Carolina; two uncles on her mother’s side, Jamie Rivera-Reyes of Pennsylvania and Jason Rivera-Reyes and his wife, Sarai River-Reyes of New Mexico, and a big loving family who will always adore and remember her. Ailani was preceded in death by her grandfather, Willie “Pop Pop” Grace. All funeral events will be private. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD for all their support and kindnesses throughout Ailani’s illness.
