Al W. Stevens - Obituary

A

lbert “Al” W. Stevens, 93, a resident of Annapolis, MD for forty years died of natural causes on Sunday, May 11 at his home. Born on October 1, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Albert A. and Vera Stevens, Al served in the US Air Force from 1947 to 1951. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Pepco for 17 years. In 1969 he established AW Stevens & Sons Disposal Systems, Inc., a waste removal company, which he owned until 1998. Al was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, the Annapolis Yacht Club and the American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Stevens and his sisters, Ruth Petronic, Alberta Wojdowski and Lorraine Coultas. He is survived by his brother, Paul (Darlene) Stevens of Ocean Pines, MD; his children, Michael (Susan) Stevens of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Annapolis, Patrick Stevens, Pam (Larry) Batstone of Annapolis, MD; his grandchildren, Kelley (David) Pellicci, Stephanie Camarena, Krystle (Ben) Thomas, Kasey (Kevin) Rimpf, Andrew (Andrea) Stevens, Brad Batstone and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Al’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, May 18 from 4 to 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD on Monday, May 19 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville, MD at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Luminis Health AAMC-Fish for a Cure, 2000 Medical Pkwy., Belcher Pavilion, Ste. 604, Annapolis, MD 21401.
