A

lan “Al” Rodger Ambrose, 70, a 28-year resident of Laurel and previously of Gambrills died suddenly on February 21, 2013 in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Born January 13, 1943 in McKeesport, PA, he graduated from Clairton High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Al had a career in HVAC and eventually owned and operated his own HVAC business for almost 20 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Moose Club, hunt clubs and numerous car clubs. Al enjoyed hunting, classic cars, hotrods, traveling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Justine (Zebert) and a sister, Arlene (Ambrose) Zacharias. Al is survived by his wife, Cheri Ambrose; beloved father of two daughters, Darnell Foster and husband Eric of Gambrills and Gina Howard and husband Christopher of Annapolis; four step-sons, Jeff Johnston of Baltimore, Jonny Johnston and wife Sharon of Cambridge, Joe Johnston of Glen Burnie, Jay Johnston and wife Cheryl of Severna Park; Loving grandfather of three grandchildren, Lindsey and Benjamin of Gambrills and Devyn of Annapolis; and five step-grandchildren, Elisha, Jake, Josie, Brendan and Morgan. Friends are invited to Al’s Life Celebration on Friday, March 1 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11am at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Avenue South, Millersville. Interment private.
