Alan J. Eng - Obituary

A

lan James Eng 12/29/63-1/23/22 Alan James Eng, 58, of Tracys Landing MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Alan was born in Washington DC to Mee Har and James Wah Eng on December 29th, 1963. He has lived in Tracys Landing, MD with his beloved wife, Lory, for the last 32 years. He was a ‘family first’ kind of man, always looking out and taking care of Lory and the kids. His love languages were most certainly quality time and gifts. He got the most joy out of spending time with, eating with, and traveling with family and close friends. The most thoughtful man you’ll ever meet, he was always finding little ways to surprise you. Whether it was with a thoughtful message or a full day planned just for you, he was always going out of his way for others. He was generous with his time, with his knowledge, and with all of the ways, he showed love to those around him. A perfect day for Alan would be spent boating on the Chesapeake Bay followed by grilling out poolside with all his family and closest friends around him. You would never find your cup or plate empty at the Eng house, and there was no such thing as too many dogs. In the last few years, he also took a liking to glamping – some of his favorite spots were St Augustine, FL and Tybee Island, GA, but really he just loved being anywhere Lory was. They would be married 36 years in March 2022, but she was his sweetheart for even longer. Alan founded Sunset Pool Contractors, LLC in January 2000 and is the Founder/Owner of Sunset Group, LLC since August 2006. He was loved by his employees and clients for his integrity, honesty, creativity, and care given to each person and project. Not always a man of many words, but seemed to make a lasting impression on anyone he met. Alan was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2019, and he made the most of every day until his last. With just a hint of stubbornness, he still managed to get down to St Augustine with Lory in December 2021 one last time. He loved having the sun in his eyes and that was the best place for it. His final weeks in the hospital were spent surrounded by his family and more love than you could ever imagine. Heaven has just received one of its best angels. Although he wasn’t too vocal about it, Alan had a strong faith in Christ and we are confident he is with the Lord now. We will always remember you and know the sun will shine in your eyes forever! Alan is preceded in death by his father, James Wah Eng; and grandmother, King Sheen Chan. Alan is survived by his wife, Lory Johnson Eng of Tracys Landing; his daughter, Jordan Leigh Eng (fiancé Ryan Kurrle) of Annapolis; his son, Bryan James Eng world traveler with no fixed address; his mother, Mee Har Eng of Gaithersburg; his sisters Sharon Moskowitz (Craig) of N. Potomac and Karen Lee Putt (Doug) of Elkridge; his puppy dog, Zyler; and his grand-pup, Porter. Visitation will be held from 12-1 PM on Wednesday, February 2nd at Calvert Grace, formerly Grace Brethren Church, 9870 Old Solomons Island Road, Owings MD 20736. A Memorial service will be held immediately after the visitation at 1 PM Wednesday, February 2nd at Calvert Grace, formerly Grace Brethren Church, 9870 Old Solomons Island Road, Owings MD 20736. A reception with light fare will follow the service. The family is forever grateful to the 4th-floor staff at AAMC and to all of the family and friends that have shown their love and support during this time.
