lan "Al" Royer Gnau, 62, of Mayo, died of a sudden heart attack Oct. 11 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
The son of Evelyn Royer Gnau of Mayo and the late Harry George Gnau, who died in 1987, Mr. Gnau was born May 24, 1945, in Baltimore County and attended Baltimore City College.
He owned Gnau Construction Co. of Edgewater for more than 40 years, and specialized in the construction and installation of complex high-volume wastewater treatment facilities. Before that he had apprenticed with the Cherry Hill Construction Co.
His interests included deep-sea fishing, boating and socializing.
Surviving is his longtime companion, Constance Schrom.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow and 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.
