Alice G. Gilbert - Obituary

lice Gilbert Gilbert, 82, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Annapolis, MD. She was born November 13, 1943, in Gainesville, GA, daughter of the late Robert and Annie Louise Talbert Gilbert of Pendergrass, GA. After graduating from Jefferson High School, Ms. Gilbert earned her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Georgia. During her time at UGA, she lettered as a varsity cheerleader and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. While initially working as a Delta Airlines flight attendant, Ms. Gilbert later embarked on a career as an elementary school teacher. She also returned to school and earned a master’s degree in early childhood education from Brenau College. Upon retiring from 25 years of teaching in the Gainesville City and Jackson County School Systems, Ms. Gilbert moved to Daytona Beach, FL. In November of 2023, Ms. Gilbert moved to Annapolis, MD to be closer to her immediate family. In addition to her parents, Ms. Gilbert was preceded in death by her two sisters, Ramona Carolyn Worley and Mary Gilbert Bates. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Berry) Damanti; her son-in-law, Glenn and two grandsons, Patrick and Nathan all of Edgewater, MD; her brothers, Charles Gilbert (Herlene) of Marietta, GA and Bob Gilbert of Daytona Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Autism Speaks www.autismspeaks.org.
