llen Harvey Foreman, Jr., 77, a 10 year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Waldorf, MD, died November 26, 2013 at his home of leukemia. Born on September 30, 1936 in Zamboanga, Philippine Islands, he was the first of five children born to the late Marjorie and Colonel Allen H. Foreman Sr. During his youth as a military brat, he moved frequently living in the Philippines, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Kansas, and often returning to reside in Oil City, PA when his father was deployed overseas. He was drafted into the army in 1959 and served 2 years active duty and 8 years active reserve. After his tour of duty he worked for the North Carolina Highway Commission as a Roadway Design Technician. While attending North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, NC he met Vickie Boykin and they were married on May 30, 1965. In 1968, he relocated to Maryland and began a career with the Unites States Census Bureau which lasted 35 years. He worked as a statistician and was promoted to a section chief. During this time he carpooled with the same co-worker for 29 years, a relationship that lasted longer than many marriages. He retired in 2001 and began volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and The Friends of Cedarville State Forest as a Ranger where he performed many outdoor activities including his favorite, trail maintenance. He enjoyed wildlife, gardening, jogging, hiking, bowling, and walking, especially with the dogs. He was an avid record keeper, with specific expertise in index cards. He is survived by his wife Vickie B. Foreman, his sons, Brian S. Foreman and wife Christy of Highland, MD and Kevin A. Foreman and wife, Eucaris of Burtonsville, MD; one brother, Thomas A. Foreman of Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert J. Foreman of Carlsbad, CA; James R. Foreman of Lake City, FL; and William L. Foreman of Oil City, PA Friends are invited to Allen's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Thursday, December 5 from 6 to 8pm.
