lma Amelia Harrison, 85, a resident of Edgewater and previously of Centreville, MD passed away on May 30, 2018 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, surrounded by eleven loving family members, including six of her nine grandchildren. Born on February 9, 1933 in Hastings, PA to the late Raymond C. and Agnes E. Williams, Alma graduated from Anacostia Senior High School. She enjoyed traveling but her greatest passion was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Alma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who fondly called her “Nana”.
Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, William F. Harrison, Jr. who died in 1996. She is survived by three children, Michael (Sheryl) Harrison of Edgewater, Bonnie (Thomas) Weeks of Tampa, FL and Michele (Sid) Thomas of Owings, MD; and nine grandchildren: Thomas (Julie), Michael, Patrick and Edward Weeks; Lauren (Matthew ) Pencek, Kristin and Jason Thomas, Christine Harrison and Kathleen (Evan) Meinhardt; and two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Abby Weeks.
Friends are invited to celebrate Alma’s life with her family from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where Alma’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 4. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD.
