Andrea Yvette Peterson - Obituary

A

ndrea Yvette Peterson (Brown) was 53 years old when she departed this life on the morning of April 28, 2018 and entered heaven to begin her new eternal life. She was born on January 31, 1965 to Lafayette Brown Jr and Ruth Virginia Brown. She was the youngest to her only sibling Sharon Brown. She was born in the cold state of Anchorage, Alaska but she didn’t have not one cold way about her. She grew up across from Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, MD and went to Princeton Elementary, Walker Mill Junior High and Central High School’s. She remained in that area as she started her adulthood journey. She was blessed to give birth to her only son JoVaughn Marcell Brown on May 15, 1986. She was so excited and loved him with all of her being. Her sister’s only son Rowemell and JoVaughn grew up together like brothers. Anne was a very fun loving person. If you knew her, you know that. She cares about people like they are all her family and would give the shoes off her feet to help someone else. She had such a giving heart and was always there for anyone to the best of her ability. Anne loved to cook and she passed that on to her son who also loves to cook. Even more so than cooking she loved to feed and help the homeless. During her tenure in the late 80’s – late 90’s she worked at Covington and Burling Law Firm in Washington DC. She connected with a homeless man and actually fed him every day for many years during her time working in Washington DC. She and her sister drove to work together. They did almost everything together. The only time they did not live together was during both of their marriages. They located to Rocky Mount NC in 2016 together along with her son and granddaughter Aliyah Woodard. Once they got to Rocky Mount, her ministry in helping the homeless didn’t stop. On Saturday mornings all four of them would make sandwich bags for the homeless with chips and a soda. They were not familiar with the city real good but found where most of the homeless were and would give them a bag of food. They also went to shopping centers just anywhere they would see someone who was in need. She loved doing that and had dreams of one day opening her own specialized shelter for them. As her health began to decline she eventually stopped. Anne never ever complained. She always had a smile even through the pain she was constantly in. She loved to watch Lifetime movies. She wanted to make sure all of her WE Channel shows were recorded so she could view them when she got out of the hospital. Well she never made it back to her physical home but she is in the Ultimate Home with her Lord and Savior and her mom and dad whom she missed beyond words. She is survived by her only son JoVaughn Marcell Brown, Rocky Mount NC, sister, Sharon Brown, Rocky Mount, NC, Half Sister Ranelle Brown, Columbus, OH, Granddaughter Aliyah Woodard, Rocky Mount, NC, Granddaughter Serenity Ray, Washington, DC, Nephew Rowemell Antonio McLean, Atlanta, GA, Niece, Brooklyn Brown, Columbus, OH, Niece KeAsia McLean, Washington, DC, Niece, London McLean, Washington, DC, Nephews Rowemell Antonio McLean Jr. (RJ), and Mason McLean, Atlanta, GA, Aunt Bessie Lawrence, Tarboro NC, Aunt Esther Harrell, Warrenton, VA and a host of loving and supportive cousins.
