Ann Lewis - Obituary

nn Lewis passed away on June 24, 2024. She was born in 1946 to the late Carl and Stella Waldinger and raised in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in secretarial studies education, she became a secretary at IBM and later at Hofstra University. While working at IBM, she was set up on a blind date with a coworker’s friend, Ken Lewis, the man she would marry 8 months later and to whom she would remain married for 52 wonderful years. They had one child, whom they named after Ann’s beloved father. Ann and Ken moved to Maryland in 2015 to be closer to their daughter and her family, where many lunches, book clubs, and trips to the Hippodrome theatre were enjoyed. When Ken passed away in 2021, Ann soldiered on with her acerbic charm and the vital signs of a 20-year-old. As her hearing was still excellent, she enjoyed eavesdropping on the loud conversations at her new assisted living facility. Ann is survived by her daughter, Carla (Kenneth) DeWitt; her cherished grandson Kevin, and 3 nieces and their families. The family has elected not to hold services in her honor, though she will live in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association (online here or P.O.
