A

nn James Smith, age 66, died peacefully in the presence of her family on December 16, 2021 at her home in Millersville MD. Ann was born on August 12, 1955 in St Louis, MO to the late Ann Boyce Campbell and Robert Johnson James. She lived in many places throughout her life, including New York City. Ann attended parochial schools and earned herself an associate degree from Anne Arundel Community College. She enjoyed a rewarding 26-year career with the Office of Administration of the Courts for the State of Maryland as a judicial information systems manager in charge of a team of systems analysts and programmers. Ann had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Michael. Ann and Michael were best friends and shared their love for each other with their children and grandchildren. Ann will be remembered most for her giving spirit. She opened her door and her heart to anyone. She loved to host and entertain by her pool. She had a love for art and music. She enjoyed decorating for holidays and buying gifts for others. Ann was always the life of the party. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Melinda Hawley. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Michael W. Smith; her three children, Ryan James of Glen Burnie, MD, Sandra Albert of California, MD and Caitlyn Harmon of Pocatello, ID; and her three grandchildren, Kylee James of Pasadena, MD and Hailey and Benjamin Harmon of Pocatello, ID. Family and friends are invited to a viewing at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, December 22 from 11am to 1pm followed by a brief service at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the World Wildlife Fund. Online condolences may be offered using the Memories tab on the left side of this page.
