Ann Welton Sole - Obituary

“Faith, Family and Friends” Ann Welton Fraser Sole, 78, passed away on December 15, 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Largo, MD. She was born January 5, 1944, in Keyser, WV to the late James Fraser, Jr. and Ella Bell Welton Fraser of Middletown, MD. She recently relocated to Annapolis, MD, having lived in Camp Springs, MD for 52 years. She married her Frederick High School classmate/sweetheart, J Christopher Sole, upon graduation from Towson University in 1966. They had two children, Kimberly Ann Bridgman and James Christopher, Jr. Ann taught for Prince George’s County Public Schools teaching kindergarten while raising her children. She actively supported her husband’s baseball and softball teams and the University of Maryland – Go Terps! Many friends tailgated weekly in Lot 1 with three generations of fans. She and her husband rarely missed a Frederick High School class of ’62 reunion. Ann also loved to travel – from her first trip to Scotland on the Queen Elizabeth, several European trips with her sister and brother to more recent trips to Oceania and the South Pacific with her teaching friends – Bula! Ann loved the church. She served in many capacities at Unity Presbyterian of Camp Springs until it closed its doors in 2018. She was an active mission elder at Southminster Presbyterian Church for several years. She loved helping and serving others by supporting school supply drives, “Warm Nights” providing meals for the homeless, and recycling clean used clothing for shelters to name a few. She also enjoyed her time with her Wednesday morning bible study group. Ann was predeceased by her parents and husband, her sister Harriett Josephine Albin and brother-in-law Loren Albin, brother-in-law Raymond J Mangold, numerous aunts and uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Bridgman (Michael), her son Jim Sole (Zaira), and her two granddaughters who gave her much joy, McKenna Rose Bridgman and Ariana Cristina Sole. Ann is also survived by her brother, James Fraser III, and his wife Kay, sister, Susan Mangold, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Southminster Presbyterian Church.
