O

n Friday, September 27, 2013 of Catonsville, MD, died at the residence of her daughter in Fort Washington, MD surrounded by her family. She was born on December 27, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Michael and Mary Shell, nee Varvaryne, and was raised in South Philadelphia and moved to Yeadon with her husband. After 46 years they moved to Fort Washington, MD to be near her daughter and grandchildren. For the past 22 years she resided at Charlestown an Erickson community in Catonsville MD. While in Yeadon, Ann was very active in her church and community being past president of the Womans Club of Yeadon and the Monsignor Bonner Band Mother's. Ann was a very talented seamstress, sewing for her daughter, her friends and herself. She did great needle pointing and crocheting. She was an avid bridge player, gardener and cook. Everyone who knew her loved her for her great enthusiasm and energy. She loved helping everyone, especially her family. She loved her Catholic faith, formed several bridge clubs at Charlestown and exercised until she passed. Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Jimmy of 54 Years and three brothers, John, Mike and Teddy and three sisters, Marie, Jackie and Emily. She is survived by her devoted daughter Cathy McGarrigan and son James Callos; loving grandmother of Lauri (Miles) Johnson, DJ (Tara) McGarrigan, and Scott (Michcale) McGarrigan and Joey, Andy and Brad Callos and great-grandmother of Jackson (11), Ella Cate (9), Ethan (4), Dylan (3) and Danny (2) McGarrigan. Loving sister of Helen Oslar and sisters-in law- Antoinette Callos and Ann Shell brother-in- law Anthony Callos and many loving and adoring nieces and nephews. Friends may call at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745 on Friday, October 4 from 10:00 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. On Saturday, October 5 at 1:00pm there will be a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Community at Charlestown, Catonsville, MD.
