A

nna “Maw Maw” Lare, 86, a resident of Mayo, MD for more than forty-seven years, died peacefully on Monday, August 27 at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on April 20, 1932 in Cynthiana, KY, Anna graduated from Versailles High School. For nine years she worked at the Veterans Administration and the Central Intelligence Agency then became a homemaker for most of her life. Anna was a member of the Mayo Athletic Association and regularly attended St. Andrew the Fisherman Church. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, reading and watching the Washington Redskins. Anna is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles W. Lare; her children, Steve Lare and his Wife, Tammy, of Raleigh, NC, Gayle Haines and her husband, Jay, of Prince Frederick, MD, and Robbie Lare and his wife, Deanna, of Mayo, MD. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Anna's life on Friday, August 31. Viewing beginning at 11 AM followed by her funeral service at 1 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Timonium, MD 21093.
