nna Margaret Lewis, age 92, passed away on June 27, 2024, at Sagepoint Senior Living Services, LaPlata, Maryland. She is now at rest with the Lord and reunited with the love of her life, Bill Lewis, who passed away in 2018. Annie was born in Luke, Maryland, to the late James Noonan and Bernadette Hutchinson. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School, Class of 1949, in Westernport, Maryland. Following graduation, Annie moved to Washington, D.C., where she met Bill. They married in 1953. Annie was a housewife and mother to her four children while working part-time at the Government Printing Office. She was a parishioner of Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in District Heights for over 50 years where she generously volunteered her time and talents. She lived by the principles of her faith, volunteering for such organizations as the church Sodality, So Others Might Eat, the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Forestville Pregnancy Center. She and Bill taught Pre-Cana classes, providing instruction to couples marrying in the Catholic Church. Annie enjoyed listening to music, especially family jam sessions, playing cards, ballroom dancing, bowling, the theater, and genealogy research. Although she left the drafting and line-up of the family’s fantasy football league to Bill, she enjoyed being part of the league and owner of the Checkmates. She was a Redskin fan, particularly towards the end of the season when she couldn’t wait to hear the various permutations that would get the Redskins into the playoffs. She devoted her life to her family and was at her happiest when spending time with them. Camp Granny’s was a favorite past time for her and her grandchildren. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, she said, “I ran a great Camp Granny’s.” Annie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Artie Hutchinson, Jim Noonan, and Peggy Henry. She was also predeceased by two nephews, a niece, and one grand-nephew. She is survived by her four children, Bill Lewis and wife Janice, Cheryl LaNore and wife Janice, Tina Riojas and husband Joe, and John Lewis and wife Lisa. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Annie is also survived by two “neighborhood kids” who she treated as her own and who became lifelong friends, Kathy Buck and Barbara Grinder. The family would like to acknowledge and extend their sincere gratitude for the loving and compassionate care provided to Annie by the health care workers and staff at Sage Point Senior Living. Relatives and friends are invited to Anna's Life Celebration on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Mount Calvary Catholic Church 6700 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD 20747 from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton, MD 20735. In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to Mt. Calvary Catholic Church. God saw the road was getting rough, The hills too hard to climb. He gently closed your loving eyes, And whispered ‘peace be thine.’
