nna Marie Miller, 84, was born in Altoona, PA on February 24, 1934, the only and cherished daughter of Carl Torino and Teresa Grace Mincin. She graduated from Altoona High School with honors in 1952, and was employed by Altoona Trust Company for 12 years. On November 14, 1964, Anna married Charles H. Miller, also of Altoona, PA, and they established residence in Annapolis, MD thereafter. Nine months and nine days after marriage, they had twin girls, and 11 and a half months later, another daughter. Being a mom was Anna’s calling in life. She tenderly cared for and deeply inspired her children: Karen Miller Maneri of Moorestown, NJ; Kathy Miller of Annapolis, MD; and Linda Miller Townsend of Easton, MD. When her girls were teenagers, Anna re-entered the workforce, enjoying employment with BOMI International in Arnold, MD for 19 years. She took care of her parents in their old age until their passing. Upon retirement, she played and pretended with her two grandchildren whom she adored: Sophia Grace Townsend of Easton, MD and Garrett Torino Maneri of Moorestown, NJ. Anna enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She liked to read and spend time outside (whether it be having a picnic, swinging on her swing, taking a walk, riding her 3-wheel bike, or enjoying a boat ride). She welcomed and loved all of the neighborhood children that entered her open door over the years. Nobody ever left her kitchen hungry! She was an excellent cook (preparing countless delicious, well-balanced meals with care and love) and a “from-scratch” baker (Oh, her chocolate chip cookies and banana birthday cakes!). Material things were unimportant to her. Her family and friends, the people in her life, were important, and she lived accordingly. After enjoying a lifetime of good health, she faced a 4-month illness with grace and courage. She passed peacefully on June 1, 2018. Her loving husband of 53 years, her 3 “girls,” her two grandchildren, her two sons-in-law (Howard Townsend of Easton, MD and Tony Maneri of Moorestown, NJ), her many other relatives, and her friends will miss her. Anna Marie Miller will be remembered for her quiet strength, her patience, her hard-working spirit and hands, her joy and gratitude for the smallest of things, her acquired wisdom, her strong faith, her generosity, her kindness, and her unconditional and beautiful love. Above all else, she encouraged others and made them feel special and loved. May we all follow her life’s example. Anna was an active supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 53 years. A funeral Mass will be held at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD on June 15th at 10:30 am. The burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Altoona, PA on June 18th at 11:00 am.
