nna Virginia Stevens, age 86, of Annapolis died on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Kris-Leigh Assisted Living in Severna Park.
Born in Lothian on August 12, 1925 to the late Benjamin Harrison and Frank Revell Prout, Virginia graduated from Southern High School in 1943. During her working life, she worked at A&P Grocery Store, Wollman’s Shoe Store in downtown Annapolis, Sears Dept. Store, as an at-home day care provider and as a temporary employee at the State Income Tax Division. Virginia was a member of The Moose Lodge in Glen Burnie and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Annapolis Post 304. She was an avid cat lover and also enjoyed country music, dancing, socializing, shopping, watching American Idol and the Baltimore Orioles.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Frances McMillian.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Stevens who she married in November of 1961; two sons, Thomas and John Pearson of Annapolis; three daughters, Linda Pearson of Annapolis, Marilyn Nickerson of Arnold and Cindy Lytle of Churchton; nine grandsons, two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 800 Wyman Park Dr., 1st Floor, Baltimore, MD 21211.
