Anna Marie Tsakanikas - Obituary

nna Marie Tsakanikas Anna Marie Tsakanikas, 84, a 10 year resident of Annapolis and previously of West Palm Beach, Florida, died on January 11, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Anna was born May 25, 1926 in Copenhagen, Denmark to the late Thorkild and Clara Christensen. She immigrated to the US after WWII, where she met and married her late husband, George J. Tsakanikas. Anna later became an American citizen. She was a homemaker and was devoted to all her family and friends. She was loved and will be greatly missed. Anna was an avid reader and loved flowers. In addition to her late husband George Tsakanikas, who died in 1985, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Jorgen, Thorkild and Alfred Tsakanikas and her sister Gerda Riis. She is survived by her children; Nancy Kristensen of Edgewater, MD, Peter Tsakanikas of Laytonsville, MD, Kenny Tsakanikas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and John Tsakanikas of Chantilly, VA and her sister Elsebeth Thordahl of Denmark. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Monday January 31, 2011 at 1:00pm at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements by the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, MD.
