Annette Theodore Samaras, "Anna", 86, an 80-year resident of Annapolis, previously of Eustis, Florida, died at her residence on May 21, 2012.
Anna was born on January 11, 1926 in Eustis, Florida to the late Theodore and Katherine Samaras and was a 1943 graduate of Annapolis High School. She worked as a secretary at the Naval Academy and retired after 35 years of service.
Anna lived with and cared for her mother Katherine until her death at age 95. She was an early founder of GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America) and founder of the local GOYA chapter at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, where she was also a member of the church council from 1968-1973 where she served as secretary in 1973.
Her interests included reading, gardening, travelling and cooking for her family and friends.
Anna is survived by one sister; Georgia Liakos Davis of Arnold, one nephew; Theodore Siomporas of Crofton and eight nieces; Maria Gregory of Severn, Karena and Diana Liakos, both of Annapolis, Tara Hines of Arnold, Joanne Brew, Karen and Maria Samaras, both of Annapolis and Annette Sophocles, also of Annapolis.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 10am at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment St. Demetrios Cemetery. An online guestbook is available for your convenience at www.kalasfuneralhomes.com.
