A

nthony Lawrence Alessandrini, born on November 13, 1934 in Elizabeth, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Anthony grew up in Kearny, NJ. He graduated from Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, NJ and received a scholastic scholarship and graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ in 1956. Anthony served three years in the U.S. Army with over two years being spent at the American Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. Anthony worked briefly at Ballantine Brewery in Newark, NJ before joining the Internal Revenue Service in 1960. His initial assignment with the IRS was an Auditor in the Manhattan, NY District. In less than a year, he was trained and transferred to the beginning of the IRS Data Processing effort in Washington, DC. It was here where he met his beloved wife, Loretta Gubisch. They moved to Beltsville, MD where they raised their family. While in Beltsville, he joined the Knights of Columbus. He was an active participant for many years. It was in Beltsville where he started his “acting” career for the Calverton Players. After retiring, Anthony took a number of part-time positions as a pre-algebra and algebra teacher at St. Joseph School in Beltsville; assistant baseball coach at Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, MD and JV Softball Coach at Pallotti High School in Laurel, MD. Anthony and his wife later moved to Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD where they both became very active in the community. Mr. Alessandrini served on the board of directors for six years, with four of them as President. He was also an active member of the drama club, appearing in numerous productions over the years. He also participated in the Heritage Harbour Chorus. Anthony later became a volunteer at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Anthony is survived by his wife Loretta; his four children, Angela Suznavick of Cockeysville, MD, David (Janet) of Laurel, Nancy of North Bethesda, MD and John (Erica) of Quantico, MD, as well as nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Anthony’s life celebration on Thursday, March 12 from 4-7 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 13 at 10:30 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90-D Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
