Antoinette Derr - Obituary

ntoinette AnnKaspar Derr, age 89, a 37 year resident of Arnold, MD died on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications due to a stroke she suffered one week earlier. Born on October 13, 1920 in Central Falls, Rhode Island Ann ran a garment factory in Brooklyn, NY beginning at the age of 16 and continued to do so until her marriage on June 12, 1954. She then left the workforce to raise her 3 children. Ann attended St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Annapolis and in her spare time enjoyed live theater, cruise vacations and was an avid reader who loved being surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandson. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Frederick C. Derr who died on October 28, 2008. She is survived by her son, Charles F. Derr of Annapolis, MD; 2 daughters, Debbie Schoonmaker of Dunkirk, MD and Cathy Derr of Severna Park, MD; 2 brothers, Michael Kaspar of AZ and William Kaspar of NY; 3 sisters, Alice Spallone of NY, Margaret Chase of CA and Delores Albans of NJ. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends are invited to Ann's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16 at 9:30am at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Rd., Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
