A

rlene Mosier Arlene Ann “Bootsie” Mosier, a 35-year resident of Annapolis, died at her home on February 12 after a two-month battle with cancer. She was 71. Born on July 13, 1940, in Washington, D.C., she graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1958. She worked in the Office of Education for the former Department of Health, Education, and Welfare before moving to the Academic Dean’s Office at the United States Naval Academy. She retired from that office in 1998. An avid fan of the Washington Redskins, she spent her later years traveling, attending the many events in which her grandchildren were engaged, and spending time with the many friends she had made over the years. She also enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emilie and Joseph Tavaroza. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Harvey “Sonny” Mosier of Annapolis; three sons, Bob Mosier of Linthicum, Steve Mosier of Fairfax Station, Va., and Tim Mosier of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters-in-law, Diana Mosier of Linthicum, Kathy Mosier of Fairfax Station, Va., and Sheri Mosier of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Carpenter of Boca Raton, Fla. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 16. Burial will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
