Arthur Francis Anderson - Obituary

rthur Francis "Buzz" Anderson, 95, of Edgewater, MD passed away on Friday, February 2 at his home. Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, Art was a 1941 graduate of Glen Ridge High School. He enrolled in Newark College of Engineering but was called to active military service in 1943. He spent part of his training at Texas A&M University and was later sent to Germany with the 106th Infantry Division just as that portion of WW II ended. He served in Germany with the Occupation Forces. After the war, Art earned an engineering degree and worked with General Electric for 30 years. His specialty was designing radar antennas for the military. He finished his engineering career at IITRI in Edgewater, MD. Art was a member of Sigma XI, The Scientific Research Society of North America. He enjoyed golf, advanced mathematics, tennis, gardening, playing bridge, and reading. He also enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing with his niece and nephews in New York’s Adirondack Park and studying the ecology of Adirondack beaver bogs. Art was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Evans, who died in 2011. They were married in February of 1965. Art is survived by his three nephews, Bill, Tom and Bob Barber and his niece, Linda Domino. He also had numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
