rthur George Bugler Jr., 94, of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 20, 2026, following a courageous battle with vascular dementia. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 7, 1932, to the late Arthur George Bugler Sr. and Ruth Isabel Bugler (née Mitchell), Arthur grew up in the Chicago suburbs. He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1950 as valedictorian of his class. He went on to Cornell University, where he earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps as a First Lieutenant from 1956 to 1959, receiving an honorable discharge. In his professional life, Arthur was a dedicated chemical engineer and business executive. He brought his expertise to companies including Olin Corporation, Goetzewerke, H. B. Maynard & Co., Standard International which in 1973 adopted the new name, Standex International Corporation, and Union Carbide, living and working in New York City, German, Switzerland, Massachusetts, Norway and Connecticut. For the last three decades of his life, he made his home in Edgewater, Maryland, where he founded and successfully ran his own firm, Control Point Associates. In 1958 Arthur married Mona Ingemann Mortensen of Denmark. Together they raised three sons and shared many years of life and adventure. Arthur was an avid world traveler with a deep love of exploring Europe and beyond. He journeyed through Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, and his beloved Scandinavia. He possessed an adventurous spirit and a lifelong curiosity about the world. Closer to home he enjoyed summer theater, sailing, and volunteering at the National Gallery of Art; he was also active with the Wilton Playshop and the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre at the Annapolis City Docks. Arthur is survived by his three sons, Karsten Bugler of St. Inigoes, Maryland, Erik Bugler of Washington, D.C., and Kenneth Bugler of Taos, New Mexico; his sister, Mary Bugler Dion of Laguna Woods, California; his former wife, Mona Bugler; and his grandchildren, Leif Bugler and Sonia Bugler. He was preceded in death by his parents. Arthur's funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 12:30 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
