Arthur R. Campli - Obituary

A

rthur Roger Campli, “Art”, 82, a resident of Lothian, MD, passed away on March 14, 2023, at his home. Arthur was born on October 19, 1940, in Bronx, NY to the late Arthur and Marie Campli. He was a 1958 graduate of Anacostia High School, a veteran of the US Navy, a proud member of IBEW Local #26, and all around Mr. Fix-It. To the delight of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, trips to the Natural History Museum in DC included a stop at the enormous elephant in the rotunda to retell the great family legend that “Grandpop in the Woods” worked on the electric wiring. He enjoyed construction projects (and directing a crew!) including building his own home; spending time at home with Linda and their dog Brandi; cheeseballs, Pepsi, cold beer, and sweet treats; and sharing stories about his time in the Navy and his summers with his cousins on Lake Hopatcong, NJ. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his former spouse, Martha Campli. Arthur is survived by his two children, Donna DeCesaris of Annapolis and Artie Campli of Chesapeake Beach; his longtime companion Linda Slater; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenna and Neil Butler and their children, Haviland, Reid, and Lawson; Geaton A. DeCesaris III; Elisa and Riley Konara and their children, Renoen, Rhodes and Emery; Juliana and Michael Johnson and their children, Charlie, Logan, and Joey; and Brandon Campli. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Arthur’s life on Thursday, March 16 from 5 to 8 pm at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 17 at 12pm. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Lighthouse Shelter, 10 Hudson Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 or online at Lighthouse Shelter
