Arthur Lee Dove, Sr. - Obituary

rthur "Lee" Dove, Sr, age 89, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 27th, at his home in Davidsonville, MD while tending his garden. Born April 18th, 1934 in Chaneyville, MD, he was the son of Joseph Franklin Dove and Leona Emma Dove (Maxwell). He was a strong man of faith and shared the Word of God with everyone, wherever he went. He was the sole proprietor of Dove Utility Contracting before returning to his family roots and pursuing his true calling of farming. He managed Willow Lake Farm in Davidsonville for the last four decades. He was highly respected throughout the farming community, and had a particular passion for raising beef cattle and maintaining the appearance of the farm. He was so grateful to share a strong bond and love with the Suraci family. He was a member of Three Rivers Sportsman Club in Harwood, MD for several years where he won many trophies for his well trained hunting dogs. He managed the Davidsonville Little League baseball team for several years in the late 60s/early 70s, while winning several championships. Well known for his green thumb, he always had an amazing garden. He loved to share his harvest with others, especially his tomatoes. He passed his love for gardening and flowers to his children. He loved to spend time with his family and extended family, especially the young men who he mentored and grew close to over the years. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth A. Dove (Burgan), his loving wife of 63 years, his parents, and 14 siblings. He is survived by his four children, Arthur L. Dove, Jr. (Brenda) of Davidsonville, David (Scotty) Dove and Patricia S. Wood of Denton and Andy T. Dove (Amy) of New Church, VA: 7 grandchildren; Randy Perro (Rachel) of Greensboro, MD, Ashley Wood of Missoula, MT, Alison Fluharty (Eric) of Denton, Kimberly Wood of Denton, Andy T. Dove, Jr. (Frannie) of Reston, VA., Joshua Dove (Charisse) of Front Royal, VA., and Jacob Dove of New Church, VA.; 8 great-grandchildren; Gavin, Graham, Gwyneth, Gracie and Gabriel Perro of Greensboro, Elliot and Oliver Fluharty of Denton and Katie Dove of Reston, VA.; one brother, Floyd Dove of Crownsville, MD, and one sister, Geraldine Eschinger of Easley, SC. A viewing will be held at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD beginning at 10:00am on Monday, June 5th, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD, following the service.
