A

rthur Francis Jimenez, 87, a resident of Annapolis for over 55 years, died of heart failure May 17 at Woodward Estate Assisted Living in Bowie after a four-year illness. Mr. Jimenez was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Sanford, Fla., to the late Horace and Julia Jimenez. He was a retired truck mechanic. He served as a corporal in the Marine Corps during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the invasions of Bougainville, Guam and the Marianas Islands. He was a former member of American Legion Post 7 and Moose Lodge 296. Mr. Jimenez loved working in his garden and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy S. Jimenez, who died in 1998; one son, Donald Jimenez; and one grandson. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Frances Coyle of Newburgh, N.Y., and Pamela S. Baker of Annapolis; two grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. Family and friends may join in Arthur's Life celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401 or to the charity of one's choice.
