Arthur Lewis Poncheri - Obituary

MSgt., Arthur Lewis Poncheri (Ret.), 83, of Lothian, and formerly of Forest Heights, MD, died on January 27, 2018. Arthur, "Art" was born on March 22, 1934 in Rock Glen, PA to the late Leo and Grace Poncheri. Art was a musician for 26 years with the United States Air Force Band, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement he enjoyed preforming Dixieland / Jazz Music at local Pubs, Restaurants and Wine Festivals. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church of Upper Marlboro, MD. Art was proud of his Tyrolian heritage and would gladly talk to anyone who was interested. Art was a collector of tools, gadgets, and T.V. infomercial appliances. He enjoyed catalog shopping, music, puzzles and spending time with his family. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he started shopping the day after for next year’s presents. His passion was frying, consuming and collecting everything bacon flavored or related. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Constance C. Poncheri, and his siblings, Roswell [Thomas], James, Leonard Judge, and Lovella Judge-Leonard. Art is survived by his children, Richard (Debbie) Poncheri of Laurel, MD, James (Bernie) Poncheri of Millmont, PA, Todd (Wendy) Poncheri of Brandywine, MD, and Kelly (Mark) George of Annapolis, MD; eleven grandchildren, Reanna (Aaron) Harman, Amanda Poncheri, Adam (Kristin) Poncheri, Jason (Kate) Poncheri, Kyle Poncheri, Cory (Tiffany) Poncheri, Casey Poncheri, Cole Poncheri, Kristian George, Taylor George, Nicholas Moore; and five great-grandchildren. Please join us on Friday, February 9, 2018 to celebrate Art's life from 4 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, located at 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
