Astrid Agullana - Obituary

STRID ACUAT AGULLANA, born November 6, 1942 went home to be with the Lord on August 11, 2021 at 1:44 am Eastern Standard Time at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center La Plata, MD. Astrid graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Manila, Philippines with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Masters Degree in Biology from De La Salle University Manila, Philippines. She was a Biology teacher at St Theresita’s School Lubuagan Kalinga, Philippines. After her teaching career she practiced her profession as a pharmacist as a Food and Drug Inspector, before opening her own pharmacy named Perpetual Help Pharmacy. She was an active member of the Philippine Pharmacists Association. She has been an active Catholic Women’s League association president for two terms in Lubuagan and she had a lot of projects for the St Peter’s Church in Lubuagan. She is a member of the UKAA and BIMAK Filipino associations in the United States of America. She loved to play the accordion and piano, sing and dance, travel, bead creations, coloring and arts and maintaining a flower garden. Astrid is preceded in death by her parents, Pio and Anastacia Acuat; her brothers, Alberto, Tommy and John Acuat. She is survived by her husband, Vicente Agullana; daughters, Sheryl Agullana Salazar and Sheila Agullana; Son-in-law, Romano Salazar; her grandchildren, Kristabelle and Kaleb Salazar; her brothers, Ponciano, Emmanuel, Pio Jr, Alexander, Teodoro and Winniefredo; and her sisters, Conchita, Bridgette, Christy, and Natividad. The family will receive friends for viewing from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Saturday, August 21, 2021 and from 1:00pm to 8:00pm; Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Phone: 301-567-9424. Funeral service will begin at 10:00am at The Dome New Life Church located at 9690 Shepherds Creek Pl, La Plata, MD 20646 on August 24, 2021. Interment will follow at Wesleyan Memorial Gardens at 11:00am.
