A

udrey Hanbury Goolsby, 85, a 13-year resident of Annapolis, MD, and previously of Camp Springs, MD died on February 23, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications from lung cancer after a brief illness. Born July 24, 1925 in Chesapeake, VA, to the late Audrey Bernice Griffin and Lewis Franklin Hanbury, she graduated from Oxon Hill High School. Audrey was employed as a systems analyst with the U.S. Government, retiring after 33 years. She was a member of the Annapolis Elks and a Life Member of the South Gate-Clinton Lions Club and was the recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones award. Audrey loved cooking, shopping, fishing, NASCAR, was a fashionista, loved spending time with her family and friends and loved doing charitable work with the Lions Club. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Keith W. Goolsby, Sr., whom she married on April 25, 1942 and who died September 17, 2001; her three brothers, Lewis F., James A. and Mack Hanbury. Audrey is survived by her children, Rebecca (James) M. Stiles of Burnsville, NC, Susan (Mike) G. Stevens of Annapolis, MD and Keith W. Goolsby, Jr. of St. Leonard, MD, and; her siblings, Ray Hanbury of Lexington Park, MD, William T. Hanbury of Charlotte Hall, MD and Marty Hanbury of Davidsonville, MD; 8 grandchildren, Kristan Brooks of Burnsville, NC , Craig T. McDonald of Seminole, FL, , Kelley R. Stevens of Annapolis, MD, Melissa Washabaugh of Mt. Airy, MD, Krystle Thomas of Annapolis, MD, Kasey Rimpf of Annapolis, MD, Rachel Goolsby of Brandon, FL and Ashley Veazey of Brandon, FL. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Audrey’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, where services will be held on Monday, February 28 at 1pm. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Audrey’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Route 3 N, Bldg A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
