udrey Annette Quinn died February 2, 2025 in Southport, Connecticut after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. The longtime Anne Arundel County resident was 86 years old. Audrey Sokol was born July 26, 1938 in Monessen, Pennsylvania. Her father, Carl, was a construction foreman for the Frank Irey Company — a major engineering firm, while mother Caroline was a homemaker. Audrey often told stories of childhood adventures with cousins of Croatian descent, Bob and Rich Kopko, and spending Saturdays at the Monessen movie houses in the 1940s. Audrey married Walter Quinn in June, 1966 and they initially lived in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where they started a family. They moved to Ellicott City, Maryland when Walt was the zone operating manager for Montgomery Ward. Audrey loved the arts and was quite skilled at knitting, crocheting and painting. While the Quinn family lived in Staunton, Virginia she was president of the Staunton Fine Arts Center. The Quinn family relocated to Davidsonville, Maryland in 1977 when Walt was promoted to general manager of the Montgomery Ward department store located at the Annapolis Mall. Audrey got involved with the arts community and served with the Annapolis Opera Company. Audrey was an accomplished quiltmaker and was an active member of the Annapolis Quint Guild. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her weekly quilting chums with the “Go Between Quilt Bee.” During every holiday season, Audrey was known for making pierogies, Halupki and a plethora of baked cookies for the family to enjoy. Audrey worked for Aeronautic Radio Incorporated (ARINC), a major provider of transport communications and systems engineering solutions, for more than 20 years as an executive assistant. In younger years, she worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Later in life, Audrey lived in homes on Sharp Street in south Baltimore and Ritchie Court in Annapolis. Audrey moved to Westport, Connecticut in 2014 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She eventually moved into Maplewood at Southport assisted living facility. Audrey is survived by her former husband, Walter Quinn of Pasadena, Maryland and their three children — Randal Quinn of Atlanta, Georgia, Ryan Quinn of Austin, Texas and Erin Moore (Kevin) of Weston, Connecticut. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Tallulah and Cooper Moore. Particularly close members of Audrey’s extended family were Tom Gorman of Greenville, South Carolina and Rina Gorman Scribner of Waterville, Ohio.
