Audrey Rose Smith - Obituary

f Temple Hills, Md. Died on June 23, 2017. Audrey was born on January 23, 1932 in Silver Springs, New York. She graduated from DePaul Nursing School in 1953. She joined the U.S. Air Force and was discharged as a Captain in 1965. She was a flight nurse during the Vietnam War Era and was stationed in Japan. While in the service, she met her beloved husband Bill. She continued to serve her country when she was appointed by the governor to the Maryland Veterans Home Commission. She loved her children, grandchildren, and traveling. Audrey is preceded in death by her late husband, William Burl Smith; beloved mother of Michael Smith, Michelle Stillwell (Rick), and Kelly Justice (Michael); dear sister of Rosie Stroud, Patsy Hirtz, Ronnie Goodwin, and Gerry Goodwin; cherished grandmother of five. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 2401 Brinkley Rd, Fort Washington, MD 20744 on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 12 p.m.. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
