Barbara Lou Avery - Obituary

B

arbara L. Avery passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Though small in stature, she was larger than life—a feisty, spirited woman whose strength, wit, and love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Barbara was the beloved wife of Kenneth Wayne Avery Sr. with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and memories. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Barbara Harmel (Steve) and Wynee Zehner (Marty), and her son, Kenneth Wayne Avery Jr. (Katy). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life. She is also survived by her loving sister, Dorothy, and her faithful dog, Snoopy, who remained a constant source of comfort and companionship. Barbara had a special place in her heart for animals. Her love for them was evident in the kindness and compassion she showed every creature she encountered. Dogs, in particular, held a special place in her life, and she treasured the companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love they provided. Whether caring for her own pets or simply admiring animals wherever she went, Barbara’s gentle spirit and nurturing nature shone through. Her home and heart were always open to the animals she loved, and they brought her countless moments of happiness throughout the years. Barbara will be remembered for her fierce independence, quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, strength, compassion, and treasured memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 19 at 11:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W Central Ave Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment will follow at 2 pm at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Annapolis SPCA or to an animal rescue organization of your choice, in honor of Barbara's lifelong love of animals.
