Barbara Cantrell - Obituary

arbara Ann (Bowers) Cantrell – Devoted wife of the late Jamie Cantrell, beloved mother of Gary (deceased), Kirk (and wife Joy), Robin (and husband Hobert), JC (and wife Mary Lou) and Michael; Grandmother/Mopsy or “the Queen” to Traci Ann, Rich, Rob, Clint, James and Catherine, nine great-grandchildren and Louise Braxton; cherished friend to many, many people. Barbara Cantrell spent most of her professional life as Treasurer, Director of Loans and Officer/Member of the Board of Directors of the Hattie M. Strong Foundation. When not working or in retirement Bobbie (and Jamie) were found on their boat “The Kitten” cruising the Chesapeake Bay or wintering at anchorages in the Exuma Islands, Bahamas. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St Bernadette’s Catholic Church, Springfield VA with a celebration of her life immediately following at the Waterford Conference Center, also in Springfield, VA. In lieu of sending flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in Barbara's name would be honoring her devotion to charitable acts for the benefit of those less fortunate.
