Barbara DeCoste - Obituary

arbara Lee "Babs" DeCoste, 68, a resident of Annapolis for 11 years, died of complications from diabetes Aug. 24 in her home. Ms. DeCoste was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Washington, D.C., to the late Helen and Kenneth Mullican. She graduated from High Point High School in 1958. She worked in the admissions department at the University of Maryland, University College, from 1988 to 2004 and received the President's Award. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and loved painting and the ocean. Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Rowland of Annapolis and Michelle Phibbons of Davidsonville; one brother, John Mullican of Sykesville; one sister, Millie Freaner of Ocala, Fla.; and four grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will the offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road in Annapolis. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
