Barbara Ann Raftery - Obituary

arbara Ann Raftery has “gone shelling” Barbara Ann Raftery, 83, of Annapolis, Maryland, (formerly of St. Mary’s City, Maryland) died May 10, 2023. Born February 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Margaret Helen Green Knott and Charles Henry Knott; after her mother’s death, she was fortunate to be raised by her step-mother, Lina “Gene” Knott. She retired from United Parcel Service after more than two decades of service in management. She loved gardening and created a serene space in which roses, hostas, irises, and other beautiful plants welcomed visitors. She also enjoyed crafting and especially enjoyed collecting sea shells, which will be reflected on her gravestone. Antiques also intrigued her, especially family heirlooms and art. She is survived by her loving husband James Patrick Raftery; son Charles (“Chuck”) and wife Lori Mackey of Annapolis, daughter Victoria Mackey-Spring and husband Thomas Spring of Pinson, Tennessee, and daughter Jacqueline Mackey and husband Garrett Preis of Great Falls, Virginia; grandchildren Christopher Mackey and wife Angie Mackey and Joshua Mackey; great-grandchildren Connor, Laila and Kaylin Mackey; and her sister Emma (Vicky) Mumford and husband Rob Mumford.
