Barbara Louise Trusheim Eckert Rodriguez - Obituary

arbara Louise Trusheim Eckert Rodriguez passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 with the help of Joanne Flanigan, her Hospice Nurse and her wonderful caregivers at the Annapolitan Assisted Living community in Annapolis, Maryland. Her daughter, Nancy, was by her side. Barbara was born and raised in Washington, DC, growing up on Pennsylvania Ave just a short distance from the Capitol. Her parents were Emma Louisa Rock Trusheim and John William Trusheim. She had one brother, John Andrew Trusheim. She graduated from Eastern High School and went to work as a secretary at the Naval Research Lab in SE, D.C. Barbara was married to George Edward Eckert for (26 years) at the time of his death. She and George had two children, Nancy and Steven. She met Jose Rodriguez and they shared many happy years together until his death in (2012). During her lifetime, she had many jobs but she always returned to the Naval Research Lab, a place where she excelled at what she did and where she had many friends who supported her through life's many challenges. Barbara is survived by her daughter Nancy Snyder (Bill), her son Steven Eckert, her granddaughter Meghan Capobianco (Joe) and her 2 great granddaughters Ashley and Brooke, who she asked about often. She has a niece, Melissa Trusheim Monkelien, the daughter of her brother, John A. Trusheim as well as many extended family and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Annapolitan Assisted Living community for their love and care of Barbara for the last 12 years. Barbara's memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28 at 1 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD 21037. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake :90 Ritchie Hwy Pasadena, MD 21122.
