arbara Leola Schneider, 91, a 41-year resident of Arnold, MD, and formerly of Brownville, NY, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on September 17, 2025. Born on September 12, 1934, to the late Charles and Madeline Slate, Barbara was one of six children. She graduated from Brownville-Glen Park Central School in 1951 and from the House of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1955. She went on to enjoy a 45-year career as a registered nurse, retiring in 2000. After retirement, she continued her love of serving others by working at a local pharmacy and volunteering for many years at the hospital. Barbara was a faithful member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, MD, and an active member of the American Legion. She was also a dedicated New York Giants and Baltimore Orioles fan. She liked staying connected with family and friends through phone calls, Facebook and cards.Most of all, Barbara treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin H. Schneider, Jr., who passed away in 1977, and by three brothers, Frances, Bob, and Richard. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Schneider and Theodore (Laura) Schneider, both of Arnold, MD; two daughters, Vicky (Stuart) Timerman of Milton, DE, and Diane (Todd) Donaldson of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a brother, Donald of Florida; and a sister, Mary(Jim) Lowe of Virginia. She is also survived by four grandsons, Cole, Jordan, Mitch(Shanna) , and Shane(Emily); four granddaughters, Erin(Eric), Heather. (JR), Abby(Jim), and Emma; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends from every part of her life. Friends are invited to celebrate Barbara’s life with her family on Monday, September 22, from 1 p.m. until her funeral service begins at 3 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband, Edwin, at North Watertown Cemetery in Watertown, NY.
