B

arbara Wallis, 83, a resident of Annapolis (Bloomsbury Square) since 1990, and previously of Waltham, MA for most of her life, died unexpectedly August 5 of pneumonia at AAMC. Born July 3, 1929 in Waltham, MA to the late Anna and Harold Wallis, she was a member of St. Mary's Church, Anne Arundel County Foster Grandparent program and was active in Bates Senior Center. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and loved children and taking pictures of family members. She was a very friendly person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Wallis Howe. She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Cliff (Mary Lou) Howe of Annapolis, Woody (Lisa) Howe of Annapolis, Valerie (Steve) Cooksey of Annapolis and Barbara (Mike) Anderson from Brooksville, FL; great-nieces and great-nephews, Meredith Howe Julio, Jaime Howe, Kathryn Howe, Charlie Howe, Gregory Howe, Stephen Howe, Marianne Howe, Brooke Mervine, Valerie Johnson, Anna Talbert and Michael Talbert. She is also survived by several great-grandnieces and grandnephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 16, at St. Mary's Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Burial will be held at a later date in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to St. Mary's St. Vincent DePaul Society, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401.
