art John Rankin, 65, a resident of Riva, MD, and previously of Landover Hills and Crofton, MD, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was born on May 25, 1959, in Washington, DC, to Richard Rankin and the late Lois Helen Kapp. Bart graduated from Fairmount Heights High School in 1977, where he was athlete of the year and prom king. He went on to spend over 40 years working in the printing industry. Bart was a caring and loving individual with a big heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and put others before himself. When Bart was not spending time with his family or fishing, you could find him in his garage workshop. Bart was a skilled woodworker, spending numerous hours designing custom furniture and unique pieces for family and friends. He enjoyed maintaining his lawn, gardening, bowling, and attending church events. Bart is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Vickie; his daughter, Brandie Rankin of Hackettstown, NJ; his father, Richard Rankin of Upper Marlboro, MD; his two sisters, Renee (Dan) Enright of Greeneville, TN and Janine (Chris) Malafouris of Milford, MI; his brother, Kirk Rankin of Riva, MD and he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great nephew and niece. He was predeceased by his daughter, Samantha Rankin; his mother, Lois Helen Kapp and his brother, Brett Rankin. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bart's life on Wednesday, June 12, from 4 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 9 am. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W .
