artholomew “Barry” Joseph Recame, II of Edgewater passed away peacefully at home on May 12th, 2026. He was 80 years old. He was born in December of 1945 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Bartholomew Joseph Recame and Muriel Recame. In 1964, Barry graduated from St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, NY, then graduated in 1968 from St. John’s University in Queens, NY, with a BS in accounting and was a member of Zeta Sigma Pi Fraternity. Barry served as a Naval Officer 1969-1989, retiring at the rank of Commander. He was a Radar Intercept Officer flying the F-4 Phantom and F-14 Tomcat in squadrons based at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia and forward deployed on the USS John F Kennedy (JFK). His last sea assignment was again on JFK as the Air Operations Officer. His last shore assignment was as the F/A-18 Hornet Systems Logistic Manager at the Naval Air Systems Command in Washington, DC. Barry found a rewarding second career with New York Life Insurance as a financial planner. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was also an active member of The Golf Club at South River. Barry loved playing golf and hit two Hole In Ones, enjoyed DIY home improvement projects, fishing, sailing, and gardening. Along with his parents, Barry was predeceased by his brother, Robert Recame. He is survived by his children, son Bart (Kathleen) J. Recame, III of Christianburg, VA, daughters Nicole (Eric) Kirby of Ridgewood, NJ and Danielle (Michael) Pierce of Reston, VA, and their mother, Susan Donato Recame, as well as his former spouse, Dale Ann Cole, grandchildren Carina Recame and Quinn Recame of Christiansburg, VA, and John Kirby and Connor Kirby of Ridgewood, NJ, sister Diane (Joseph) Keneally of Sun Lakes, AZ, brother Maurice Recame of San Diego, CA, sister Darrelle (John) Gill of Sayville, NY, nieces Denise Keneally, Jill Lindsey, April Alvarado, Sommer Iamele, and Andrea Goerler and nephew, Johnny Gill. A Mass Of The Resurrection will be offered on Saturday, May 16 at 12:30 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church: 826 W. Central Ave Davidsonville, MD.
