enjamin Arthur Simpson, Sr., 74, of Naples, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Formerly of Oxon Hill, MD, he was born November 1, 1934 in Washington, DC, the son of George A. and Mary Lillian (nee Adams) Simpson. He was a fourth-generation native Washingtonian and has resided in Naples, Florida since 2002. He owned and operated a gasoline service station at 200 Mass. Ave. NE on Capitol Hill for 37 years. In this role, he was proud to have serviced a variety of clients ranging from the homeless to our nation's lawmakers. He was a talented musician who toured with the USO at 15 and worked with country music legends such as Patsy Cline, Roy Clark, and Jimmy Dean. Later in life, he volunteered his musical talents to many worthy causes including nursing home visits and daily music ministries at countless Catholic churches. He was an experienced pilot for over 40 years and volunteered for the Naples Civil Air Patrol chapter. He will be sorely missed by three children, two grandchildren, and so many in the communities that he served. Mr. Simpson is survived by his children, Karla A. (William D. Jr.) Curry of Coleville, CA, Theresa E. (Benjamin J.) Shupe of Waterford, VA and Benjamin A. (Meredith H.) Simpson, Jr. of Springfield, VA; and two grandchildren, William D. Curry, III and Kristopher L. Curry, both of Coleville, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Marie (nee Baker) Simpson in 2007. Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Simpson's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Oxon Hill at St. Columba Catholic Church on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
