enjamin Nicholas Wheeler “Ben”, 43, a lifetime resident of Mayo, died May 7, 2011 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 18, 1967 in Washington, DC and graduated from South River High School in 1986. He worked for Steamfitters Local 602 for 19 years.
Ben was a proud soccer dad, bodybuilder and avid Redskins fan. He had many interests including: swimming, horsemanship, softball, fishing, hunting, boating, carpentry and farming. He was also an artist and musician who enjoyed karaoke and playing the trombone, piano and keyboard.
He is survived by his fiancée, Nancy Layne; two daughters, Caitlin Elizabeth and Cheyenne Rose Wheeler, both of Mayo; parents, Helen and Jack Wheeler of Annapolis, sister, Kathrin Smith of Cazenovia, NY and his former wife, Mary Wheeler.
Friends are invited to Ben’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, on Friday, May 13, from 4 to 7p.m, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. Interment Mt.
